A Diamond in the Rough 

Let me start by saying the 2000s have been a special period - designwise. Our house was build in 2002, which does not sound that long ago but it actually is 20 years. And you can tell. From the brownish countertops in the kitchen to the beige, brown tiles in the bathroom or the wall sconces, or the fire place mantle-build-in-monster. Different times, different taste. Below are a few of the listing pics that did not make us want to buy the house - it was the floorplan, the size and the possibilities we saw. Thankfully we underestimated the work it would take - so we went and bought it!
